Markbo
Innovatives' website lacks a little on detail. My LC-1 went bad so I ordered an LC-2. Now I got it and the Sensor connector is different so I need a different sensor. Innovatives' part number of 3888 does not cross reference at any auto parts store. Can anyone tell me the correct Bosch O2 sensor part number so I don't have to order on line and wait for it? Many thanks!
snm95ls
17014 is usually the best priced unit. 2004 Golf GTI upstream sensor. Actually I think that number is valid for any MkIV Golf/Jetta with the 1.8t.
Saltysubie
They list the following sensors as compatible with the LC-2: Bosch LSU-4.2 Bosch LSU-4.
Markbo
Yeah Salty that info is in the manual but those numbers mean nothing to auto parts stores. They go by part numbers not types.
snm95ls
The 17014 is a LSU-4.2.
Markbo
Is a 4.9 "better" than a 4.2? I dont know what those numbers designate.
Saltysubie
Yes, the LSU-4.2 had 17014 written on its box. Looks like the LSU-4.9 is a 17025. It looks like there are variations for each of the sensors. I'd guess the variations are most likely being the type of connector attached. Here's some propaganda from the internet comparing the two: http://www.ecotrons.com/technology/bosch_lsu_49_is_superior_to_lsu_42_sensors/
Markbo
17014 is the one for the LC-1 with the larger connector that does not fit the LC-2. Nobody locally carries the 17025 for some reason. Ordered on line. I dont know if thats what 4.2 & 4.9 delineate but the former is what I have for the LC-1 & I know it doesnt fit.
Saltysubie
Hmm, my LC-2 was provided with the 17014 O2 sensor and it fit okay. I think that the 17014 and 17025 have the same connector and are the name designations for those Bosch sensor types. In other words: 17014 is the Bosch LSU-4.2 sensor with the large connector that fits the LC-2. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-17025-Oxygen-Sensor/dp/B009J3EXGQ]Amazon.com: Bosch 17025 Oxygen Sensor: Automotive[/ame] The Innovate Motorsports manual calls the connector a 5-pin, but looking at it, there are actually 6 pins available on the connector. fahr_side
Splice the wiring. The first LC-2 kit I saw came with an old-stock LSU4.2 sensor, so those do work with the newer unit. I cut and spliced my cable to fit it through a smaller hole in the bulkhead... no problems with it in nearly 3 years. Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs. Markbo
I just got a 17025. I went with it based on recommendations of better performance over the LSU 4.2 unit. BUT... the connectors on the LC-1 and LC-2 are most definitely not the same. The LC2 is smaller.
