manual transmission swap

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm looking to purchase a 5 speed manual transmission for my automatic legacy sedan. I am unsure of the components I would need to complete this swap. I would need a full list of parts. Ecu, etc. Anything helps. Thank you guys.

your best solution is to buy a working legacy with a manual trans.

sell yours.

easier and probably cheaper.

but if you are dead set on doing the swap,

your second best is to buy a wrecked legacy outback with a manual trans.

that way you are GUARANTEED to have all the parts you need.

all of them.

this also allows you to see how everyting fits as you take it apart.

once the swap is done,

and you have harvest any other parts you might want,

like leather seats or alloy wheels,

you sell what is left as scrap.

you will not make money,

but you will spend less.

Dont do it. I say this because I almost just did. Instead I got a legacy same year as mine with a bad motor and swapped my good motor into it. Now I have a manual transmission with no codes and much less work.
