Does anyone know of a brighter upgrade for the DE3175 map/dome lights?

I found something here...

http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-33261.cfm

...but I refuse to buy from anyone who makes claims like:

LED light travels faster and farther then any ordinary automotive light.

:icon_roll

Yeah, I saw that too - what a moron !

I made my map lights way brighte simply by removing the lens/cover

thing. It's mostly opague, with a very small hole for the light to shine

though. I want to figure out how to enlarge this hole cleanly ...

Quick question regarding bulbs.

I need to replace the bulbs that illuminate the license plate, but I cant figure out how to get to them. I've tried prying the lenses off from the outside, but I'm afraid to try too hard and crack something in the sub-30 degree weather here. What is the correct way to replace those bulbs?

On mine you remove two screws and pull the assembly out, THEN

remove the lens.

You might want to put a detailed spec of your car (include year and

trim type) so it shows up on your profile ...

Okay I updated my car and location in my profile. In the owners manual it shows how to do it on the wagon, which is indeed as easy as two screws. But on my sedan there are no screws holding the lenses and they will not (even with moderate force) pry out like typical lenses. Looks like I will try to go behind the interior trunk panel to access the bulbs. Thanks.

How do we replace the glove box bulb?!

i found out the other day that it isn't a bulb, but rather an led integrated onto a circuit board. that didn't stop me ;)

the circuit board is independent, and just clips into the harness. i just busted out the old soldering iron and transferred the pins from the board to a #74 5-led bulb from autolumination so that at least two of the leds would light on one side, then widened the holes on both the brown led board casing and the top of the glovebox that let light through. it took me through a 15w fuse or two to get the right polarity finally, but the result is great -- actual bright white light to see what's in the glovebox .

fwiw, the cubby pod has the exact same led + cicuit board setup -- i did a much simpler swap on that; i just replaced the orange led with a spare red one i had laying around (just clip and re-solder). result is a cool little red accent behind the gauges that much better jives with the predominantly red 'night' interior scheme.

you can also see the ashtray replacement in a few of these -- that is actually just a true #74 bulb that needs a swapout for led ;)

i wouldn't say this is plug-and-play, but with a little fab, imagination and common sense, doable in many different ways, even for an electrical invalid like myself  a good time is when you are going to tear it all down for cabin filter :spin: enjoy.

Very nice... now I have a weird and difficult question...

Does anyone know if there is a integrated circuit board full of LEDs for all the panels in the front? Like let's say... I wanted to replace ALL the red lighting in my car with blue...

HOW difficult would that be??

decided to take apart my glove box light tonight..

  1. Pull out storage cubby above glove box, it just pulls right out. after you do that, remove the white connector
  2. the two hooks circled in red in picture 2 hold the glove box light in place, push those in and pry upwards on the places i circled in red in picture #1. if you rush this and break a snap, the black piece that holds the light is 66242AG06A. Don't ask how I know the part number.
  3. once you remove the glove box light assembly, it'll look like #3. you can just unhook the black piece that holds the light in place, and you can pry off the cover on the opposite side of the connector.
  4. once you unhook the cover, you will see what is shown in picture 4. apparently after you remove the door, theres nothing holding the circuit board in the plastic housing and it'll just fall out.
  5. once you take the circuit board out, or once it falls out onto your floor, you'll see what is shown in picture 5.

Geez people, read. I already posted up a kickass site that has every LED need you could ever imagine.

http://superlumination.com/festoon.htm

I just placed an order with this guy, and his customer service before hand rocked. I emailed him a couple of questions about his dome lights and he responded in 2 mins. Literally. my email went out at 11:20 he responded at 11:22. I haven't received the product yet, obviously because I just got done placing the order, but based on the preceding events I have no reason to think I would have an issue.

Anyone have any info on the lighting around the shifter? I've got an auto '06 legacy and the lights on the base of the shifter for park through drive etc... have gone out. Going to be taking control panel apart to get to the CD player and though I may be able to resolve that issue at the same time.

How do you change the ceiling light (door light) ?

Do I pull on the front of the clear part to get it off, or what?

EDIT: Found it.

Dome light - Pry the end (clear end) with a screw driver (page 11-55 of my manual)

I installed these multi-plug LED's in all of the dome lights. They're awesome.

Ok so I need help with these dam Festoons.

What sizes can be used in my 2007 legacy gt auto wagon?

What is the stock size of the festoons? what size of festoon can you go up to?

I am looking to replace my map, dome, and wagon cargo dome lights. But this festoon thing has me worried. Can I use dif sizes to a degree? if so how much?

These are the ones I am looking at, can you suggest others?
