hpcbmw
I'm doing a trunk swap tomorrow and am trying to figure out a couple of things. I've looked at all the trunk swap threads I could find and still have some questions. I'm swapping my smoothie trunk for a winged trunk. -How do you get the pop its out of the trunk carpet without breaking them all? (or is this like asking how to get peace in the Middle East?) - do you disconnect the trunk lid cable at the trunk lock or inside the trunk? - if you disconnect at the trunk lid - do you have to remove all the carpet from the trunk lid to get to the trunk release cable? - I've read that there is a way to adjust the trunk tensioners for the heavier winged trunk. I took a look at the tensioner and can't see how to adjust it or put it on a different notch. Thanks!
jton
get a 10mm open wrench and just pop em w/ that. 2 12mm bolts on the lid. yes
cseagle08
On the carpet I just pulled from both sides of the fastener gently, it came out fine; didn't break anything, just be gentle. I installed a factory spoiler where there wasn't one before, I left the trunk springs alone, haven't had any problems with it.
hpcbmw
Wow, that was WAY to easy. Did the trunk swap in about an hour, taking our time. Very cool, both of us really like our new looks. Still can't figure anyway to adjust the tensioners for the heavier trunk. Maybe that was a thread I read for a newer model.
