bcmaxx
After installing headlight relay harnessess and piaa extreme whilte bulbs, I still find the headlamps very poor on this car. I decided to try out some led headlamps. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee110/bcmaxx/20160218_072210_zpsluayys7u.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee110/bcmaxx/led-headlight-conversion-kit-flexible-tinned-copper-braid-h4-heatsink_zpsa9n8b59v.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee110/bcmaxx/20160218_112641_zpsaww436jc.jpg I'm not sold on them at all. Other than the color, they are no improvement . I like the white, but thats about it. I think I'll swap them back out, matbe try a different design, or just hold out for my bi zenon projector retrofit

mnstrmech
I converted to HID/ projector system a couple years ago with a Morimoto system from THE RETROFIT SOURCE... BUT!!! if you dont do something about the lenses,,, you wont get that sharp cutoff or just that nice lighting..... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0925140750_zps960b3d30.jpg I cutoff the front of my lenses and molded acrylic to them.... and ill never go back to halogen again...... the acrylic has been in about 2 years,,, and still crystal clear. bcmaxx
Do you have a writeup at all on how you did your lenses with acrylic? I have a spare set of lenses I was going to sand the fluting from , and polish...but I'm looking at hours and hours on each lens
mnstrmech
Sorry, i dont have a write up. I did them about 2 years ago. I intially tried sanding the original ones from inside, but they just dont clear at all. Ina nutshell, i cut the very edge of the lenses right at the sharp bend, which i have a photo..... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/sadiemaerogers01/0922141209_zps335718fc.jpg I used an air cutoff tool, then smooth it out with a roloc disc on my air grinder... (since im an auto tech) Then trim the acrylic , which i got from Lowes, which is their optix line, .08 thick, about half inch or so LARGER than above cut piece. i heated it up in the oven. BUT!!!! 1st reassemble the cut part from above pic TO the headlamp assembly, that way it stays to shape. I read through a bunch of message boards about heating acrylic in the oven, low temps, below 250, i dont recall a good temp, just below 250. once its soft, then you can form it to the headlamp. Trim the formed piece closer to size. Now, I taped the acrylic to the headlamp, and used Loctite super glue in the INSIDE ( which means DIS-ASSEMBLY from the housing.).... THEN< went over that with a good silicone both INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.... A tip..... cover the outside of that nice new acrylic in some blue masking tape.... it'll keep you from scratching that clear acrylic.... i cut it about an 1/8 inch around the edge.. for a "border" then spray painted the sides and back black.. 2 Northern Indiana winters.... and still sealed.. No moisture getting inside!! Not even a scratch.... and my car NEVER sees a garage . So thats how i did mine..... in a nutshell. Hope that gives you encouragement to try it.....
