'95 Subaru Legacy (Newbie)

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is John and I've recently got into the subaru game. I owned a '99 Honda Civic, '04 Mazda RX8, and a '96 VW GTI VR6. I've got to say I have really liked owning a legacy. My buddy Jay bought it back in early september 2013 and we did a little rust repair. He drove it through the winter and sold it to me late February. Since he drove it thru the winter there is more rust. So far its a fun car. I've driven all small sports cars and I've got to say, its so practical and that makes it cool!

Mods:

Raceland Coilovers

New clutch

New flywheel

New slave cylinder

GT wheels

GT wing (not on yet)

GT hood scoop swap

Base model impreza seats

Aftermarket radio

RX8 Shift boot (from my old car)

Rainbow Dildo Shifter

Honda Civic muffler (sounds good)

Ain't care lip from some accord (aint care)

one fog light (came with 2)

DIY Blue badge (kinda worked)

DIY black tinted taillights

DIY Yellow tinted headlights

I've seen racelands rust out and I saw a set that had sheered while driving...

BC/ISC every other thousand dollar coilover uses heavy springs to make up for the poor/inconsistent valving. BRo its so firm! (its because of the springs).

Most kids these days just want to slam their shit for as cheap as possible and don't care about handling. At that point buy whatever and don't drive it on the road near me.

If you actually give a shit about performance which no one does these days, you will spend around 1k for a good strut and spring combo and coilovers don't become good until closer to 3k.

KYB, Koni, Bilstein, Tokico all make good struts.

H&R, Swift, RCE, or King make decent springs.

For coilovers I wouldn't touch anything below KW, but supposedly ST is pretty decent budget stuff and they are owned by KW.
