bman Posted May 31, 2013 Share Posted May 31, 2013 I was thinking about upgrading my 2005 Outback Ltd rearview mirror since it's just the plain, manual one. I was checking the prices on ebay and I can get a 4th Gen Subaru\Gentex auto-dim, compass mirror for a little more than the 3rd gen one. Has anyone tried installing a 4th gen mirror on their 3rd gen car? Is the harness the same? Can I just splice\jump the connectors? iyalla Posted May 31, 2013 Share Posted May 31, 2013 you mean 5th gen in a 4th gen yes? I don't know if the harness are the same. But you should be able to splice the wires. I fit an 09 Subaru mirror to my 07 Accord. I believe the Gen4's have blue(live/switched power), black(ground) and green(reverse). The reverse is live when the car goes into reverse, it turns the dim function off. I can't remember what the newer mirror have in terms of wiring color. Black is still ground lol. I believe switched power is yellow/blue and reverse is brown. But don't quote me Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
