2015 Subaru WRX STI Spy Shots

Some are saying its the STI, not the WRX Concept car. If it does turn out to be the WRX Concept, then it appears that we are all going to be greatly disappointed. However, there are little things that you can see how it would indicate that it would be the STI.

For example, the STI badge on the front grill, I believe it is.

Third picture reminds me of the Civic.

That's a current Impreza with a body kit. It's kinda late for this to be just a test mule, so Subaru's strategy sure looks confusing.

1. Show aggressive/impressive concept and claim it's close to production model

2. Test a base impreza with a wing on the Ring.

3. ???

4. Profit.

Take a 4th gen Legacy, add some rice stuff, mask the heck out of it and drive it around known areas for test vehicles to get the photos on the web.

Meanwhile continue with the testing elsewhere.

It's a conspiracy!

Either a decoy or such a let-down that it might just be... real.

Let down, it's what makes a USDM Subaru a Subaru.

Now that I've thought more about it, I think this is just an Impreza GT doing testing with an STi wing to build buzz about it. That's just the 2011 STi wing.

I couldn't imagine anything being called a WRX or STi would be so flat sided after that whole 2008 - 2010 sleeping pill they called a WRX.

Honestly as much as I'd like to be able to say this is just another test mule (remember all the hilarious looking BRZ mules?) ... it doesn't look like a mule at all.

This car looks to be 80-90% production ready. It doesn't have any tack-on pieces from other Subaru models or weirdo proportions, and the bodywork is tight and lump free. That's the new grille, bumper, and headlights to match the BRZ design language (I quite like it) but it's nothing close to the concept. It does look really similar to a reskinned base Impreza, but the window line on the rear doors curves up a little. Everything looks production ready to me.

The only things reminiscent of the concept are the general grille shape and the LED strip in the tail lights mimicking the concept's shape. I still like it though, I was expecting something like this realistically anyways.

A year an a half before BRZ production start the mules on the Ring looked identical to the real car. It was the really-really old mule (2009-2010) that looked all weird.

Exactly what I was thinking. There really doesnt look like there are any parts/pieces that dont belong/ stick out that would make it an obvious mule.

Meaning its pretty much almost all ready for production except for maybe a few minor details. But if you zoom closely to the grill, you can kind of make out the STI badge.

A bit of a letdown that the next STI is probably not going to look like the WRX concept just shown at the NYIAS, but I have a feeling people are still going to like it at the end of the day.

Although if they cancel the wagon variant I'm gonna be pissed.

The wagon version would prob look better than the sedan
