Pinsk18
Ok everyone. I need to pick your brains. There is a very loud grinding noise coming form the underside of my outback. It sounds like "metal on metal", but the problem is I have no idea where it is coming from. At one point it will sound like its coming from the front and the next second it will be coming from the rear. Plz let me know what you all think could be the problem. Thanks. spooln30
When does the noise happen? Need more info man. The exhaust heat shields seem to be a common noise on our cars.
johnegg
heat shield on the rear drive shaft, maybe. wheel bearing, brakes dragging or gravel stuck in there. but you have to get down there and look. you could have driven over a stick and it got stuck. snederhiser
Hello; One time had a rock stuck between the rotor and the dust shield. Made quite a racket, Steven.
