09SubieLove Posted December 29, 2013 Share Posted December 29, 2013 I have an automatic 2009 Legacy 2.5i with about 50k on it. Every now and then, when downshifting from 2nd to 1st with the slap shift, or when going from reverse to drive, there is a sharp metal sound that might be coming from the transmission. No noticeable loss in power or vibrations, just a sharp pinging sound. Any ideas as to what it could be? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Wife's old 07 Yaris had this the same sharp pinging sound going from R --> Drive, which made me uneasy. We traded it in for a 12' 6mt Outback.
