5Mt swap what I need to know

So I have a 98 GT Legacy 2.5 that the 5spd manual trans took a dump. Local wreaking yards have transmissions but none of the are the 1998's. I read something about a push style and pull style clutch. Please give me some knowledge of what needs to be done for a 1996 or 97 transmission to have it work in my 98.

Basically if you have a push style the TOB pushes on the clutch "fingers" to open it. If you have a pull style the TOB actually clicks into the clutch and pulls it to open it. This style uses a shaft type clutch fork vs the ball and socket style of the push type.

You can use either style trans as long as you have the appropriate clutch, clutch fork and TOB. You just have to mount the slave cylinder in the correct location (it will change if you get the diff trans).
