krot84
Hey I kinda look stupid right now, but today, after driving the car for two years i've noticed that i have heated mirrors (i saw the connector at the back of the mirror glass). the thing is, i never noticed if the heating wors. How do i turn the heating on ? Is there a dedicated bottom for this?
bluesuby
There's a push button on the extreme left side of the dash. If I'm not mistaken the heater element in the windshield glass is also activated when you heat up the mirrors. Owner's manual?
krot84
I don't have the windshield deicer, therefore the is no such button. I've attached the photo of the console buttons
I3eXa
Looks like your car didn't come with that option but has the wire harness for it.
krot84
So how should the mirror heater be turned on??
I3eXa
So how should the mirror heater be turned on?? well you would need to buy the dash switch, and heated mirrors for it to work if I'm not mistaken. Also would wanna replace the windshield to take advantage of the heated wiper area. Not 100% sure but car manufactures will typically use the same wiring harnesses for different trim levels but obviously not have some plugs hooked up since your car trim level didn't come with it from the factory. BoyceWare
I believe the heating element activates upon reaching 88mph. Has something to do with the flux capacitor. Source: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeLorean_time_machine
DavidInSeattle
Look at your mirror. It has the same symbol as your rear defrost. Ergo...
I3eXa
If you don't have the button on the dash I highly doubt you have the heated mirrors installed
FLlegacy
They work with the defrost, same way with my wifes 07 tribeca and my 10 lgt. If the mirrors are factory installed they will work. No manufacturer is going to spend money installing heated mirrors that don't work.
krot84
Yes they're factory installed, i doubt that the person before me installed them with the whole wiring if they don't work. you mean the rear window defrost button ?
cbeierl
At least with my 2009 Legacy 2.5i Limited the outside mirror defoggers operate along with the rear window defogger. I do have a button on my dash, but that's for the windshield wiper defroster.
FLlegacy
I mean with he windshield defrost button. That's how mine work on both cars.
boxman
Mine work with the rear defrost button. The front windsheild defrost button does not activate the mirror heaters, just the heating element under the front wipers.
I3eXa
Mine work with the rear defrost button. The front windsheild defrost button does not activate the mirror heaters, just the heating element under the front wipers. The front defrost button under the radio put the air into the windshield from the top of the dashboard. The rear defrost button under the radio works the rear glass heating element and outside door mirrors. The dash push button on the left of the steering wheel by the mirror adjustment turns on the heating elements on the front windshield
boxman
Mine work exactly as I described and have since I bought it in '05 on more frosty days than I care to count.
FLlegacy
No that's not how it works. The front defrost button under the radio put the air into the windshield from the top of the dashboard. The rear defrost button under the radio works only the rear glass heating element. The dash push button on the left of the steering wheel by the mirror adjustment turns on the heating elements on the front windshield and outside door side mirrors Actually that is exactly how they work. http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/69502/pdf/ownerManual/069502_2007_Legacy/MSA5M0704A_10.pdf Page 3-50 in the owners manual says so. Mirror heaters are activated with the rear defroster /end
