SubaruTim
I'll be putting a roof rack on my car this winter and i was just wondering what kind of maintenance i have to do so there wont be any marks when i take it back off? A few people have mentioned that i should try and get some of that 3M clear vinyl and do the whole roof in it. Just looking for some ideas. Ill be transporting 4 snowboards a lot, I'm just worried about the feet of the rack and the bindings on the roof. Thanks.

SUPERBU
I have had my Thule rack on every summer since i bought the car in 2005. I always wash the car, wax the car, then put the rack on. (Or at least wax the roof if short on time) I also spray some cleaner on the rubber feet and wipe them off so they are free of dirt or dust. I have no marks on the roof after 6 years. What I do have trouble with is where the clips rub on the black rubber around the windows. There are permanant marks. I'm not sure if that is avoidable. blaze741
I just took my rack off. I had previously waxed the areas where the feet go. I still had some marks, but they waxed right out.
kateviliams
you have to periodically take the roof off and clean it .or again set it tightening knobs and locks etc but keep it in mind always don't overload it .
