TcDavis
Getting ready to buy a UEL header for my legacy, I was thinking about straight pipe from cat back. What's everyone's opinion about this? Good idea? Bad idea? Right now I have an HKS muffler but it's too low and scrapes going into my driveway. I've heard some nice sounding N/A subarus with straight pipe but kinda nervous bout doing it. FUIAAE
Stupid idea, nothing to gain but stupid loud exhaust that doesn't do anything except shout "I'm a bro, come laugh at me".

TcDavis
What about a resonator middle way and straight pipe out? That's really all the muffler is anyway.
LosAngelesLGT
So is the muffler or the mid scraping?
TcDavis
Muffler is at an angle. Its the back part. It's too long to fit straight and I do like the angle, but I would rather find an alternative than to raise the car back up.

FPerron
3" straight pipe from the downpipe back. Nothing stupid about that, and it sounds great. You guys remember, I'm sure, that a turbocharged system is quieter than an equivalent N/A system. What's stupid is the fake dual exhaust on our cars. m sprank
We straight piped a '12 STi (using Nameless Parts) last week. Was not that bad. We have a customer with a custom Magnaflow set up on his 4th gen LGT that is far louder than the straight piped STi, lol.
TcDavis
Thanks for the info! just dented the s***t out of my muffler over the weekend! Don't really know how. But going to take it off soon and just put a resonator underneath the car an straight pipe the rest.

FPerron
I suppose you can call those "straight pipe" setups, but a real straight pipe installation loses the dumb-assed Y.

GT_Red
I would just use the longest resonator you could find, the Neon SRT-4 does not have rear mufflers on them. That's oem, without mufflers too.
