Tooslick Posted January 23, 2013 Share Posted January 23, 2013 For people who care about such things, Amsoil has recently licensed their 5w-40, "Premium Synthetic Diesel Oil" (product code "DEO"). It's now an API licensed, CJ-4/SN rated formulation. I believe this is the first 5w-40, HD gas and diesel oil to meet the latest API/SN specification, which requires improved compatibility with fuels containing ethanol - up to and including E85. Recommended service interval for DEO is 2X the manufacturers recommendation for conventional oils; not to exceed 15,000 miles or one year. In a turbocharged engine I'd cut that in half, unless longer intervals are supported by oil analysis. In my opinion this is a more robust formulation than any of Amsoils European Formulas.
