RomanC
So my stock bushings are worn and torn and I am thinking of replacing them with aftermarket ones. The local shop that would do the replacement advised against the AVO and whitelines because they wear out too quickly. I am curious if others had this issue. MrHellrais3R
Wear out too quickly? They're polyurethane.... Lol
mustangendsley
nO GET THE avo ONES AND YOU WILL NEVER LOOK BACK. your shop does not know what they are talking about.
dease42
^^ + 1 - how poly will wear out faster than rubber is the question of the day...
whitetiger
Ive had 2 AVO bushings go bad on me and one of my current whiteline bushings has chunked as well.:spin: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/avo-offset-lca-bushings-fail-well-sorta-141916.html?t=141916&highlight=avo :spin::spin::spin:
Jimblaz
^ but you race the hell out of your car. for a DD with minimal track use i would believe the poly would hold up just fine
RomanC
"All polyurethane bushing won't last long. U need stiffer solid rubber bushing type, even pillow ball type better than polyurethane bushing. " This is what I the shop owner told me.
bmx045
so like an anti lift kit that whiteline or perrin makes....
RuskiTrombone
well if the shop said it, it must be true.
FJuan
All depends on the climate you live in and the general maintenance of keeping them lubed. My wife's balls are delicious.

" This is what I the shop owner told me. I like how they equate "solid rubber" (i.e. the ones on the car stock) as STIFFER than poly. ... so I guess "stiffer" == "more flexible" ?!? I could rip the rubber ones in half.. can't do that to the polys... EDIT: as I think about it, I wonder if they're covering their own asses.. replace stock with stock and there's less chance you'll come back and complain. hmm.. RomanC
well if the shop said it, it must be true. The shop does build track oriented cars and appears to have quite a bit of knowledge about modded subarus. I was just curious what experience LGT members had with these aftermarket bushings. They actually recommend a bushing made by Jspeed that is very similar to what is on the 2012 STi.
N.sane
STI Group N hardened rubber bushings FTW. Not as stiff as polyurethane, but at least you dont have to worry about reliability.
dease42
They actually recommend a bushing made by Jspeed that is very similar to what is on the 2012 STi. That actually makes sense. I considered using the sti versions, and they are better than stock, stiffer for sure - yet still basically subaru oem.  I will say the polys are not a necessary upgrade for a DD. Unless you plan on tracking the car, or just like a rougher ride, a better rubber bushing will be an improvement without the added NVH. I don't mind it, imho it's not that bad. I'm just surprised they went with the wear-out argument instead of ride-quality...
bmx045
So does group n make the sti lca bushings too? Do they fit our application?
dease42
No, group n is an aftermarket alternative, but from what I understand the sti versions do fit.

N.sane
Yes, the Group N LCA rear bushings fit. I have them on my car. STI part number ST20204ZR010. If you get them from Rallispec, their part number is RST-2027R. FYI, I did not have a good experience with Rallispec the 2nd time I shopped with them. bmx045
Can't find that sti part Nsane in subaru parts directory. I found them on rallispec, are they available anywhere else? are the group n and stock sti bushings the same? I see that the sti part # 20204AG011 is for the 08 sti- are those what you have? N.sane
Im pretty certain I have the STI Group N part rather than the OEM STI part, unless Rallispec did a good job replicating STI labels and such  You wont find the part number in the SOA parts directory since it's a JDM part. I only found out the part number because it was on the STI label on the packaging. The Group N rear bushings is a bit of a mystery. It isnt or no longer on the STI catalogue, but the front bushing is, part # ST20204ZR000 (as opposed to ST20204ZR010 for the rear bushing). I dont know of any other place to get the Group N LCA bushings other than Rallispec and a Subaru specialist that's local to me (username dalesalignment&brake on NASIOC, not sure if he does online orders though).
