abacuz
As you can guess by reading, I did not write this if I did it would have billion typos. hope you enjoy Yesterday I finally had my Brembos installed and Aba got his Legacy GT brakes installed. Got to West End Alignment around 11:45am and Aba's car got worked on right away. Old brakes got pulled off, new ones put on, fluid filled up...no problems. In order to get the larger Legacy and Brembos rotors on the front and rear dust shields had to be removed which turned out to be easier than we expected, the front were bolted on but the rears had 7 welds, no problem and spot weld drill bit took care of that. Pablo's car got finished up and mine got started on around 3:00pm. Same story as Aba's car...everything on my car comes off with out issues, dust sheilds removed, etc. While Darin (Owner of shop) was removing my old brakes I was installing my new pads in the calipers, just to speed things up a bit. Also, in order for the Brembo's to work on the rear of the 92x/WRX a rear adapter bracket is needed as is a specially designed rotor for the rear if you want to retain the use of your emergency brake. Everything is smooth sailing until the front calipers are ready to be bolted up. Turns out Brembo caliper bolts are European 12 x 1.5 and Stock 92x/wrx are Japanese 12 x 1.25 so we had to go find bolts. Aba and I drove to Home Depot but no luck, we called several other stores with no luck. We returned to the shop to find that Darin was able to locate some bolts he had pulled off of a Porsche a while back.... I lucked out! With the right size bolts in hand he was able to finish up rather quickly. It was a super long day but I'm glad it's done and I couldn't be happier with the end result. See pics below... low res pictures. Will shoot with my SLR soon...when I get my new projectors installed next week...stay tuned! This picture doesn't do the new legacy rotor justice, the size difference between the two is more noticable in person. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2464/3729470507_9f6d5808d0.jpg Rear dust shield that had to be removed http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2531/3729957783_4097680c38_b.jpg Here is Aba's end result. I love the contrast between the black and bronze calipers...IMO http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2512/3729907943_bb27dc0d12_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3534/3729907927_37a5728a96_b.jpg Aba in motion http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2615/3729907933_cde19fe1f9_b.jpg MY PARTS http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2531/3729470559_ecabc3baf8_b.jpg My front brake setup before the install...which is actually all for sale. Stoptech rotors, 92x calipers and wagner thermoquiet pads. Front pads are great rear are good but low. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2580/3729470545_2b2b737dfe_b.jpg My front and rear old and new rotor comparison.
