GreenMarine
So my rear view mirror is so floppy it would probably move if I exhaled strongly at it... Does anyone know if the tension is adjustable (and if so - HOW TO DO IT?)??... It is so bad that I have to adjust my rear view mirror EVERY FEW MILES because it just droops down with vibrations while driving!!! Thanks in advance! Baddog
I believe it is a "Torx" screw driver. It is on the left side of the mirror. You should see it. Try tightening up that a bit.

johnegg
there is a torx screw and if tightening it helps, great. there is a chance that the piece of spring steel inside the ball joint is broken. if that is the case you might try opening it up and installing a small piece of thin card board or folded paper. anything to creat enough friction to ''pinch'' the ball. i've doe it twice. PhilT
Hold it in the position you want it, then put of crazy glue on the joint, it will never move again. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon
donalduck_69
I just tightened mine with a T20 torx screwdriver. Mine wasn't as bad as yours sounds but it did move pretty freely. Simple fix. Good luck. Nafe

This may be my very last option I gave mine Viagra Hmmm, if my torx attempt doesn't work I may have to slip one of these little pills into my car... The question is, WHERE?? Do I grind it up and stick it in the fuel filler? Thanks for all the answers guys!! stevenva
I had the same problem. After tightening the torx screw the mirror still moved on strong bass notes. It's a ball & socket type joint. Dissamble, add a couple drops of blue loctite thread sealer, reassamble. Problem solved after over a years use. (and the mirror is still adjustable) RIP 96 Legacy 2.2 4EAT lost reverse @ 374,000 miles

nmd003
If it's any consolation, I figured it out without looking on the interwebs. I'll have to do the loctite deal on mine though cuz it keeps loosening up.
