brake wear indicator, outside or inside?

Anyone know if the brake wear indicator on brake pads should be on the inside or outside of the caliper? Doesnt sound like it would matter or make a huge deal in terms of safety? Doesnt hit the rim if installed on the outside.

I've always installed them on the inside.

they are usually placed on the inside pad (well - obviously you could swap them around, but inside is the norm)

Yep, inside is normal.

Inside, because the LGT's brakes are single piston which push from the inside, so you will see slightly faster wear on the inside. I'm not sure the squealer will even fit on the outside. I run Carbotech Bobcats, which don't have a BWI, so I have to check them visually:( On the bright side they're easy to rotate if I'm feeling cheap!

that makes sense. my outback is a dual piston.

LGTs are dual piston as well. He must be referring to something else. Floating vs fixed caliper maybe?

I guess I meant that the piston(s) are on the inside only. There's no piston on the outside, only a caliper.
