eldiablo
Ran over a piece of road debris yesterday. Looked like a cookie sheet but it was obviously a strong piece of metal. Couldn't be avoided. It kicked up and I heard a loud "bang". First thing I noticed was that my exhaust cans were knocked out of alignment... put the car on ramps to find the below damage to my lateral link mount and exhaust. Anyone have any experience with this sort of damage to a frame / mount? Any advice? Since it's covered by my insurance I'm taking it to the estimator to see what they can do for me. Then taking to a shop this week to see about welding it back to normal. Don't want to drive around too long since the damage is close to the mounting bolt. Since Subaru wants an arm / leg for the stock exhaust components, I'm going to complete the Perrin cat back system instead of replacing stock. (already have the cans) http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d67/eldiabloGT/DSC02350.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d67/eldiabloGT/DSC02352.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d67/eldiabloGT/DSC02354.jpg My VB Garage... eldiablo
That frickin piece of road debris caused $1400 worth of damage. $900 in parts / $500 in labor. Lower control arm, link rod, trailing arm, susp crossmember, exhaust all need to be replaced. At least I'll get an alignment out of the deal... and a repaired front lip spoiler which I cracked a few months back. Should have her back by the weekend. Driving the Highlander to work for the last few days reminds me how much fun the LGT is to drive! My VB Garage...
