twistedbydesign
Hello, last month I purchased an 08 LGT from the US. Love the car, however when I went to get an oil change at 1000miles at a Canadian dealer (to remove whatever engine brake in debris was left). The service manager told me that the factory does not lubricate the brake sliders before the sale and its something I should get done if I want to prevent brake ceasing. When I called the US dealership that sold me that car, they couldn't confirm if the brake sliders were lubricated or not, however they told me I should be fine as long as I do the 7500mile lubrication. So the question is... Have any of you encountered this? What is the correct solution?
RochNY91TSI
Mine were lubricated from the factory, I can't imagine why it wouldn't be done...

However, it is a good idea to always RElubricate your sliders anytime new pads are installed or every year, whichever comes first, IMO. That is also a good timeframe to replace the brake fluid. I am confident that no manufacturer on this planet delivers cars with unlubricated brake sliders. And anyone in the service business should know this as well. twistedbydesign
I only had the car a month and it has 1034 miles on it. So I was pretty shocked to hear that especially since several of my friends bought new subarus from the US recently and brought them back to Canada, and did not encounter this. I just wanted to get a second opinion. Thanks.
the_3d_man
I wouldn't worry about your breaks seizing up. they do lubricate them at the factory too just so you know. Just regrease the sliders everytime you change the pads.
Alighieri256
Yeah, I also heard that the transmissions don't come with any fluid in them! What I don't get is why would the service manager 'recommend' you get the slides lubed. Isn't it his job to lube the slides if that were necessary?
