Installed Raxles axle earlier this evening.

About 1hr start to finish. With 10 minutes searching for the control arm bolt that my buddy put down on the cart instead of the lift arm.

Old one factory original was shot, the second she popped from the diff the boot blew open and stunk. The outer joint was super floppy too with a hint of grind sound to it.

Raxles unit popped right in. No issues

Rather then pop the ball joint I unbolted the inner arm bolts and swung it Down and over. Plenty of room to work with.

EDIT:

WOW what a difference, after logging a few miles highway and local. my driveline vibration that I had is gone, and the horrible noise when taking swooping right hand bends or hard turns is gone.

Also replaced drivers caliper last night, and passenger 2 weeks ago. wow my brakes are back in action, the inner guts of the caliper were shot, torn boots, and piston boots, dirt and grime wedged in everywhere.

Good to hear about raxles. A little pricy but if the OEM quality is there, that's worth it.

Nice to know you have a piece you can trust.

May be one of you might want to add this raxles info to JmP sticky at the top of the 4th gen forum. If it's not there already.

More miles logged, Raxles is the JAM!! true OEM build quality, Marty knows Subaru axles and models very well. for F sake in the box, he includes a map to the most local UPS drop off for the core return, which btw he does not charge the core in advance.

Great Service and Product

I'll look at the raxles next time. I'm running the surtrack (non reman) from rock auto. Feels same as oem. I did have an aftermarket axle put on a Jetta I owned year ago and it was noisy and vibrated as mentioned above. Made the repair shop install an OEM and no probs.

My second autozone axle didn't have an inner boot with enough wrinkles to support the outback angle. Made quite a racket. And that was after "sorting" thru 3 prior axles that weren't even right prior to that. I'd gladly pay raxles for a real rebuilt axle. I might just do that in the next few months.

I just returned a set of new axles. I needed them in a rush and, as usual, they vibrated terribly. The outer joint was super loose and rattled bad. I rebooted my oem axles and have no more vibrations. Edited by rhino6303

Recently my passenger axle broke and I was thinking if I can replace an axle on a civic, then the LGT should be just as easy. Well it sure was.

I used the article below to help me (Thanks Inigo Montoya):

TIP:

To separate the lower ball joint from the suspension arm, use some kind of an extension or socket (5/8) to wedge between it and the arm, then drop the arm really fast from the jack and it will slowly but surely separate it.

OLD vs [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Detroit-Axle-Complete-Lifetime-Warranty/dp/B01BPL94YU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00]NEW axle[/ame] - $45.46 from amazon..what a great deal...drives like new

The new axle looked different as it was missing the flat shields on both ends....still worked fine for me. I think it will leak a little bit of transmission fluid, but it is no biggie. I will periodically check and top off if needed.

RAXLES sells an OEM axle, I don't know what he does with the cores, likely is rebuilding them and selling under another name, maybe?

afaik, Raxles reuses the axle but puts on new joints. Other places refurbish the joints.

Your supposed to move those over from 1 axle to the other on your own. As to the missing flutes thats because the axle supplied did not come off a LGT and is not OEM.

m sprank, thanks will try to get them off the old and onto the new one tomorrow. Didn't even think to try to pry them off.

On my 08 2.5 I have two leaky axles but one has started clicking is that axle beyond rebooting? Or is it just out of grease?

Also what weight grease are folks using to repack the joints?

All the reboot kits I've used come with a baggy of grease.
