discojon
ANNOUNCEMENT:Â I am covered up at the moment with 2 large orders. Kred is working on several designs and I'm hoping to have some more prototypes printed next week. I'll try to get the 2.5 GT badge, the flat L7 badge, and the L7 Grille emblem prototyped next week. We are working on a mounting solution for the Gauge pod, the vent pod will start modeling next week hopefully. I'll work on the license plate delete and relocate once I find good photos. I'm still thinking about how to solve the dash rattle without making a plate to just ram between dash and windshield.

discojon
Sneak peek. We are so close to production. Just a small spacer away. This was a test print, that's why the middle is out. But it gives me an idea, single DIN mounting option anyone. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/13/6676112f2bd3a7f8f07cdff66dab0c55.jpg

kred
RooTBeer, you're right, I'm surprised I didn't think of that sooner. Was this what you had in mind?
planelazy
The PLA is pretty strong. Depending on the design and amount of fill internally. It is plenty strong for everything we have designed so far. I wouldn't call it "structural" but i don't have any hard numbers on strength. Well I was thinking would it be strong enough to be used as brackets for under the hood stuff like a catch can or wire/fluid line mounts? R0BL3GACY
ANNOUNCEMENT: . I'm still thinking about how to solve the dash rattle without making a plate to just ram between dash and windshield. I don't think their would be much of a solution than that.. otherwise we would have to tear apart the dash which would defeat the purpose. Maybe we can make it a wide thin 7 type shape like a wedge to "wedge" in between the dash and windshield and make it look as oem as possible? One thing would be looking into the exact thickness off what would "cure" the rattle for good then going from there as far as aesthetics. Not much of a sketch artist but i can try and come up with something if you need help. Lmk.

LivingTheLegacy
Heres an image of the license plate relocate, but I think under the stress it might not actually work, but the plate deletes could possibly. http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server5000/8fmm9av/product_images/uploaded_images/license_plate_relocation_0207_600_5.jpg http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server5000/8fmm9av/products/185/images/584/license_plate_delete_600_1__14213.1405474520.1280.1280.jpg?c=
discojon
The delete should be doable. I'm not sure the relocation would hold up. Edited October 15, 2014 by discojon
discojon
Updates! After a print of both the 3 gauge pod and the 2+ garmin mount, we redesigned the mounting tabs and post mount. This will allow for a much nice finish on the gauge pod and stronger mounting tabs. Here are some preliminary photos of the test prints. Both of these test prints are already spoken for and I'm looking forward to feedback from the testers. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/16/c100cfd550b63dcd7938a578022171d9.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/16/2d76a8802bcf4868fc4e07f68a4c8885.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/16/9c42a3003f0d02a1ca13be653fa2ebc4.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/16/96e0cb1df38246b1350f6b9ca9788bc5.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/16/afb1f373f382ce0f2db244d246f4ee2f.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/16/20c57355f4b77a44c036f20ac66aaf1d.jpg Edited October 17, 2014 by discojon
discojon
And the new mounting tab system. The tabs are dovetailed in. This way I can print the main pod flat on it's back. Then do the post and tab 100% solid for strength.
Brock Samson
Just a thought about the cubby gauge pods- make sure to include a 'shade' for the clock/info display. I've noticed when I've got the cubby open when it's sunny out, the display is really hard to read- shut the door and suddenly its easily viewable. Otherwise, kickass stuff. One day, legacygt.com will have a whole section for 3d printing, I'm sure.
discojon
Dovetailed the mounting tabs. Redesigned the post for the access port / garmin mount. These are very near to production. I'm going to have several more units available mid week for those interested. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/17/58834d94a20811a41992400e3a0dfb75.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/17/ac2c3432e81b4bef91d4f0b5cfccc3e6.jpg

snow05gtRI
any way to make that garmin nub mount happen while still maintaining the functionality of the cubby? I like to keep my ez-pass and registration in there, but I want to mount a 7" tablet in front of / offset from the cubby. I'd prefer to keep it away from the windshield since it takes up a lot of visible space.

What you are asking about is possible, just not with this product.
