badduce
ok guys after reading numerous turbo failures i decided to check my filter.after reading the instructions many times i thought i had it licked.well i loosened the bolt but it would not come out it was hitting the flange on the downpipe on the bottom of the turbo.i could see the filter and it looked clean.my car has 38,000 miles.the pipe underneath said flow on a metal tag welded to the pipe it looked like it was cnc'd onto the tag.i just bought this car ,do you think this pipe is aftermarket.i see no other mods done. badduce
the flange had 4 bolts holding it to the turbo, there was also a bracket from the flange to the head.

badduce
ok my bad sorry new to turbo's always had roots superchargers, does this sound like a factory piece.
dudeondacouch
the factory uppipe has a bunch of aluminum heatshields on it, and that bracket. (there are actually only 3 bolts that go to the turbo, the other one is just for the bracket.)
badduce
this one had no heatshields and had very nice tig welds to the bottom of the flange, what is the benifit of changing this if it is aftermarket, which i believe is due the the tag on it. Stock one for 05/06 had a cat in it which restricted flow and could eventually break apart and ruin all sorts of stuff.
dudeondacouch
the stock UP on 05 cars has a cat in it. it was most likely changed out in order to retune the car. you know the previous owner?
