start up after headgaskets?

i just did headgaskets on my car and next week im gone be ready to start it. my question is, is the any pre oiling i have to do. i know on old cars you could take off the distributor and hand turn over the engine to get oil through the engine. is tere anything like that i have to do to this car. first time takeing one of the these engines out.

I'm just going to do mine, and I'm actually not 100% sure .. I did it on my old escort and stuff and never did anything special .. but I actually care about my subaru ..

 

so if anyone has any info it would be appreciated

When I put a new short block in my wagon last May, after leaving the key on and making sure I had the fuel pump primed, I just turned the key to start, the engine fired up just like it does everyday.

 

You'll want to make sure you get all the air out of the cooling system.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
