brittcrowell
Hey guys I got a '93 wagon from my friends sister a month or so ago. Runs good and everything works but the Check Engine Light is on. Is there any way to check what is causing it? Thanks Bammer
Legacy Wagon
It's a pain in the butt checking codes from the OBD1. You'll have better luck reading than me trying to explain it. Sorry that I cant be more help :/ (Didnt read through all of this by the way. Have work in a few minutes) http://www.articlesbase.com/automotive-articles/obd1-codes-secrets-for-check-engine-light-27461.html

brittcrowell
Thanks for the link. Looks like I have codes that are common. 21 - coolant temp sensor 32 - oxygen sensor 35 - purge control solenoid valve From the CarTalk link http://action.publicbroadcasting.net/cartalk/posts/list/1996611.page Going after the Coolant temp sensor might resolve the other issues. Car is running good, just tired of the red light. Any other suggestions?
sqc151
ok, a hint for the purge solenoid valve. first off... its a mother f'er to get to. best bet is to just unplug it and leave the old one in there unless u wanna remove the intake manifold. secondly. when u do replace it. relocate the new one to the top of the manifold. (right above the original) there is a bolt that holds the ignition wire bracket, bolt it there. then just re-route the vacuum lines to the new valve. (dont forget which line goes where) these purge valves are very common to go bad on these cars, so by relocating it, it will make ur life that much easier when changing it again. o2 sensor, thats no biggie and easy to change. the coolant temp sensor will also probly help out alot.
