Deer vs spec.b

Recommended Posts

I hit a deer at 50 mph and my insurance keeps thinking its going to be a total loss. The only damage is the hood, left fender, left head light, bumper clips, grill, radiator with fans, hella horns, and the radiator support. There is no engine damage. Whats the typical cost to repair? Im guessing it cant be more then 5k. Its an 2007 spec.b with only 53583 miles on it.

i wanted to kick it but it kept looking at me. the first picture was the day before, right after i gave her a good cleaning inside and out. it happened at midnight and those pictures came out dark so these are the ones after the tow to the nearest town. the deer ran from the left side of the road and when i moved left to go around it, it decided to turn around and run back in front of my car. i definitely need to upgrade my brakes because the deer stopped five feet before the car stopped but on the opposite side of the road in the ditch. i got to see its facial expression flying through for at least 50 feet and about 5 or 6 feet off the ground. it definitely died on impact. i took it to a body shop on the way back to the place im staying at and they said it should not be totaled and the low end is 4k to fix but that was a quick look at the car. they did not know what they were looking at and said they dont know the value of the car. there are more wrx's here then legacys

Update: finally got it to the body shop. Repair cost is $4703. Im allowed to put what I want within the price of stock parts. Im getting 05 headlights, rrev grill, gms radiator, and a new set of hella horns. They forgot to add the price of the grill but the total is still less then 5k. They have to replace everything from the belts forward.

Not sure if they do it anymore but about 10 years ago Allstate offered to sell me back my old car for $125 after it was totaled. Of course you won't be able to register it as you'll get a salvage title, but I bet you could part it out for good money, or get another leggy and use it for parts.

Here come the requests...lol

Hey, I guess your back from Afghanistan now. Where are you now?

See if you can buy it back. Any decent body shop can fix radiator support, you can then have the car inspected by the DMV and get a title for it.

A guy at work did that for a 94 Accord.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

no insurance claim?

I thought it's covered under comprehensive...

it is covered but im in the process of moving so i will get an estimate after i get to el paso and im at fort hood right now. i dont want to drive 10 hours just to be turned around if they dont repair it right. i rather have it close to me.

Did you have venison for dinner?

no but i have a grid coordinate where i was hit and i was thinking about making the deer into a rug and parking the subie over it everyday as a reminder

if you get good estimate should be around $5.5k and you can fix it for around...$1.5k if you have someone with a welder to replace rad support. Rest of the parts you can find online with matching colors
