sachilles
You should bring it to a hillclimb. In years past, we've had a vw scirocco, with an audi quattro driveline and buick gran national motor. The car has been in the middle east with new owners for the last couple of years, but rumor has it that it's coming back this summer. It has several of our hill records. frank_ster
Didn't notice until you said something. I think the leading edge of the left side needs to be pushed forward MOAR too... the passenger side is 1/4" longer than drivers side i measured side for side and height is pretty darn close. i'll trim the passenger side and see how it looks. and i'm running 87 octaine still fyi Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
frank_ster
i changed a rear cv shaft , i poped open the diff while i was there .. and the small spider gears have a bunch of chipped teeth. any body can get me a good price on a carrier ? torsen ? or a whole diff ? there is a junk yard that has one near by whats a fair price ? BAC5.2
Look into the KAAZ. It's cheap (~$700 IIRC) and it works great. It's a little noisy, but all clutch-type diffs are. Anything with spiders will get chewed up. frank_ster
they appear to be 1200 $$$ Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
BAC5.2
Looking again, it appears they are about $1k-$1100 now. They used to be barely $700. That sucks. It doesn't matter what diff you run, so long as it doesn't have spider gears anymore. Those are what fail. An R160 can take PLENTY of abuse when fitted with a non-spider differential. BAC5.2
You're right. But they are much more durable than stock, that was my point. I was just looking at the KAAZ site, and they say $1175 retail for the rear. It's $1600 for the center diff. Laverne
Why not take an oe carrier and spiders and send them to get cryod. It will be a lot cheaper and much stronger than standard oe stuff. That's more than likely what kaz is doing for the most part
frank_ster
cryod does not increase strength only wear resistance and the teeth are hardened and there chipping.
