30legacyl
I have a cross-threaded wheelstud & lugnut- LF. Is there an easy way to do this w/o taking the whole front spindle apart, as it looks like it MIGHT be tricky to get off past the ABS ring from the front while assembled. Any info? Car in driveway, light rain expected to turn to 2 to 10" snow by tomorrow & scheduled for inspection!! Thanks for the help guys! Mike
subikid90
You have to wiggle it out. I think I unbolted the abs ring to make it easier. If you want to cut it you can and then wiggle the new one in. I think it took me like 30 mins to get it out the first time lol. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
Baddog
Take the wheel off. Then there is like allen wrench type bolts/screws you can take out and it removes the back plating behind the wheel studs. Hammer the broken/stripped stud out. Insert the new one and pull it through. It may not go ALL the way and there may be a little bit sticking out the back but once you put the tire and lugs back on it will finish pulling it through. If you need more room behind the stud to pull it out. Just rotate the hub.
30legacyl
Thanks guys- Broke a caliper Bracket bolt trying to get the Rotor off. (Found I had squirreled away a spare!) Just wanted to be sure it could be done before I started further. Was afraid to 'break' something else as I try to get this 242K mile 1-owner Suby inspected. Things are just starting to get a little crusty underneath, not too bad for 11 years in PA snow....but just getting a little harder to keep her almost like new! 242K down, another 258K to go- hopefully! Trbulnt
Use a spare lug nut and washers to pull the new lug stud through. I do not advise installing the rim and hoping it pulls all the way in.

I do the same. Not the best approach but it works fine. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
