KevinA
My Autocross car has been laid-up for the season, so I've been autocrossing in my 2005 LGT. I've noticed that under quick slaloms, when I turn really quickly, under slight power, the steering wheel feels like it's binding. What I mean by this is, the first maybe inch of moving the wheel is fine, then it gets really hard to turn, like I'm at full lock. If I keep pressure, maybe a 1/2 second later, it's easy to turn again. I figured out how to prevent this, by instead of going from turning one way to turning another, stop in the middle, let the car go straight for maybe 3 feet, then keep turning. Does anyone have an idea on where to start looking? Also, what the best bang for the buck for killing some of the massive understeer. A guy at the shop near me said fender braces, but I'm wondering what the community thinks.
fedaykin
How's the power steering belt? What about that double clamp on the hose fix? Massive understeer = better tyres, alignment. Fender braces will do 5/6th of fkall.
KevinA
I replaced the power steering belt about 20,000 miles ago. What "Double Clamp" fix are you talking about? I've searched the forums and can't find it. Also, does anyone make a fender brace, or do I have to make it myself?
