What are the proper jack and jackstand locations?

Recommended Posts

Alright, this is sort of a noob question but I haven't had to put my car up on jack stands for a while and also would like to know the right way of doing it. I am pretty sure that I used to do it on the subframe rails (further into the centre of the car from the stock jack pinch rails), but is this correct? Where are the proper jacking points and where should I place my jack stands? Have to keep in mind that my jack stands don't have a deep enough indentation on top to prevent the pinch rails from getting crushed if I were to place the jack stands in the stock jack locations.

On our cars in the front I jack up using that black part bolted onto the subframe in the center, that's why it's there, and place the stands on the frame rails. They sometimes will dent in but it's better then the pinch weld or rockers. I also never jack up using the pinch welds. I've seen too many older cars bend up in these points. For the rear I use the diff and stands on the front lateral mounting brackets.
