Very much doubt that. It probably had a resonator tho.

 

^ this. No turbo Subaru has ever had a cat in the catback. They have all come with one or two cats in the downpipe, and some have come with a cat in the uppipe.

The Subaru resonators look like cats because of the heat shield.

 

An easy way to verify is that the catalytic converter will always be before an oxygen sensor.

 

Except the cat converter that's literally 2" behind the rear oxygen sensor! ;)

It has been a while since I had my OEM exhaust on. I checked and I think you're right. It is after the first converter though, so I guess they are assuming the second converter will always function properly and look for the range of values that correspond to the inferred emissions out of the second converter?

Don't know what your timeline is, but if you can wait a few day, I have an extra set of mufflers, but won't be back home until tomorrow. Certainly good enough for inspection .Send me the link to your WTB thread and I'll post up some pics for you when I get home.
