nsrt4me
Yesterday I launched my car pretty hard and went to shift into second gear and the trans felt like it died and had a bag of rocks in it. I have a 3k mile old CM fx200 clutch and single mass FW. With the clutch pedal pressed in at idle in neutral no sound is made, when it is let out the sound starts banging and the sound. Its hard to get it in gear but with force it will click in, then trying to drive in 1st and 2nd its very violent coming from the trans similar to if you were to start out from a stop in 4th gear. 3-5 gear I can feel it but is not as violent, the sound stays about the same noise and rhythm regardless of speed. I drove the car home carefully with my hazards on and it made it, but is def not drivable. Just trying to get an idea what it is before I take it to a shop, as Im a student on a super tight budget. There is no fluid leaking from the car either. Im thinking it is something like the clutch hub, broken spring, input shaft, etc. Please keep the comments relative. KCwagon
Best case scenerio is the center diff. The retaining ring for the center diff can pop out and get chewed up by the gears. It can be serviced in the car if that is diagnosed as being the issue. I would recommend getting it on a lift and try to determine where the sound is coming from with a stethascope (sp).
