Flow direction of cabin filter

Recommended Posts

I believe the dirty air flows down through the cabin air filter. Every time I remove the filter to inspect or change it, the dirt and debris is sitting on top of the filter element.

Thanks,

after i thinks about it, it was a pretty dumb question for me.

The thing is that i ordered an after market carbon filter and it didn't have the marker of air flow on it.

one side was dark and the other white as you can see on the photos, so i didn't know which side of the filter should be up.

I too use the Fram and I was pretty sure that the darker side faced down, but was going to double check later. Thanks for confirming and saving me some time KRM.

Not a problem at all. I also noticed that the flat edge of the fram fit into these little tabs around the inside of the tray to make it stay in place. So make sure you run your fingers around the edges of it after fitting in the filter.

Nothing really wrong would happen im sure. But the white filter element is supposed to get the particulates and the carbon side takes care of the bad smells in the air
