subaru dealer scan tool

whats up. I was wondering if anyone knew what subaru dealerships use as a scan tool. for example at saab we use a tech 2 specifically for saab and pretty much monitor everything on the car with it as well as change settings. so if you know or have an idea what it is or where to look to find out let me know. thanks

You can also use the Hitachi Diagnostic System (http://www.bsecorp.com/hds.php)

actually we just had this problem today. The tech 2 does not work on the 9-2. but we used this thing called the vdm-vdi. the vdm is the vehicle diagnostic monitor which is a program installed on a laptop. the vdi is the vehicle diagnostic interface which is a small computer looking thing that connects to the obd2 port and connects to the laptop thru usb. we had to borrow if from a dealership in new london. from above- http://www.bsecorp.com/hds.php this is the exact vdi we used.
