DIY DEI CryO2 Intercooler Sprayer

This is a walk through w/ pictures for installation of DEI's CryO2 Intercooler Sprayer. This is on the stock TMIC.

 

Parts:

CryO2 10lb Tank and Installation Kit

CryO2 Intercooler Sprayer 8" x 4" Flat-Top Mount

Stainless Steel Braided Hose - 2 ft. -4AN and 1/8" NPT m

Stainless Steel Braided Hose - 5 ft. -4AN and 1/8" NPT m

 

Notes:

- The difference between the flat top mount and front mount sprayer is the angle of the nozzle that comes out. The flat top it is parallel, and the top mount sticks out the front perpendicularly

 

- I do not install the WOT switch. Good at the track, but I don't hit the strip. So mine is push button operated.

 

- The zip ties are temporary for position. Stainless ties come w/ the kit.

 

- You need 1 additional 5ft line to make the full length of the car (total 19ft, 14ft comes w/ kit)

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Take everything out of ur trunk

2. Pop the right rear drain plug

3. Jack the back of the car up

4. Temporarily zip tie the end of the 14ft included to the rear sway bar just below the drain plug hole. I already have my 5ft connected, and ties cut when I took this pic but you get the idea.

5. Route the line up over the rear cross member and away from the exhaust and over the rear axel.

6. Route around the driver's rear side suspension parts. Make sure it will not get caught on anything moving. This was really hard to get good pix of but I did my best.

7. Unscrew the driver's side plastic under guard. There are 5 or so snapits and one 10mm to take out. You can just shove the line up on the underside of the plastic and snap it all back in for a nice clean hold.

 

 

 

8. This is where it comes out of the plastic up front. Unscrew that 10mm bolt and put the line underneath and screw the bolt back in clamping the line between the underbody and plastic piece.

9. Follow the abs lines up the fireall being sure to stay away from steering components. You will come up right by the brake booster. Hard to get clean pix back there.

10. Follow the abs lines along the firewall behind the intercooler

This is where I added an extra 2ft line to the install just to loop it and have play for the solenoid.

 

 

11. Zip tie the solenoid to the abs lines on the fireall out of the way of any moving pieces.

How you mount the sprayer to your TMIC is up to you.

 

 

What I did was went to Lowes and got 1 3ft long piece of screw rod. Then drilled appropriately sized holes into the inside of the engine cover. You can see them span the intercooler and the sprayer is zip tied to the underside to be close to the intercooler. Why did I do it this way? So there was no way that any component could damage the fins on the intercooler. It is as close as it cane be w/ the hood scoop out of the way and not hitting the intercooler.

Lastly, cut a small hole in your drain plug and fish the line through to seal it all up.

Wiring:

 

I don't think I need to explain this. It is pretty simple. I just did not use the WOT switch. If you choose to use the WOT switch, mount it to the firewall behind your gas peddle so when you got WOT the switch gets activated.

nice box. where did you get the composite materials? I'm more curious how you made the box?

 

and where did you buy your Cryo kit?

 

 

i made the box. i made the frame out of 1.5x1.5 from lowes. or basically whatever lumber you can find laying around. then i got my resin and hardener from lowes. once i had a frame in wood, i stretched spandex over it that i got at a local craft store for 10 bux a yard. then applied a layer of resin to the spandex to harden it. then fiberglass. then a lil sanding and bondo. then lots of sanding. then finally sent it off to a body shop to get painted.

What is the re-fill cost?

 

refill cost is $1.05 a lb of CO2 now adays locally. it varies but should stay around $1. any welding supply shop can fill you up. only go to ones that have co2 pumps. line transfers from 50lb bottles only gets about 7lbs in a 10lb. u will be surprised how many welding supply shops are around who can fill you up.
