BigT
Can't wait to see the 5 door. Is this larger than the current gen? Also, if my math is correct, the STI should be out next year, right?

The concept is sex and the production is yawn
TrueWhiteBoy
Meh, most stock Imprezas I've seen have been underwhelming. Shame, the concept looked quite nice too. So when will the announce the BATTLEWAGON trim? Never? Awwww

BAC5.2
Definitely a shrunken 5th Gen. I liked the profile of the concept much better. planelazy
+1 on the concept was better... They've made the Impreza the size of a Legacy now... So for a 36mpg AWD vehicle.. can we expect.. 120 hp? Why not just bring the diesel over here.
bsquarewi
Ok, it doesn't look as cool as the concept, but who seriously thought it would? When was the last time a final production vehicle looked as good as the original concept? Heck, even the Pontiac Aztec looked fairly cool in concept mode and look how that turned out. At first glance it looks like a Corolla, sure, but the more I look at it, the more I think Suzuki Kizashi. http://caraudiomag.com/pictures/suzuki-kizashi-profilehttp://caraudiomag.com/sites/default/files/images/00000/06/45/suzuki_kizashi_profile.jpg But the wheels on this are too small. Maybe it would look better with 17's like the Outback Sport has now.
BAC5.2
Subaru always does this, and I think they are almost worse than any other company. Their concept cars actually look Production ready (minus wheels), and the production cars lose 60% of the coolness factor of the concept. It's a shame, really. dmanaenk
It will take a major bump in power for me to consider an STi in that body.
BigT
I think we should give the designers a bit of a break here. This is an entry level car in the market. We're talking about a car that starts at under 17.5 USD. So, a lot of the "extras" (air dams, rims, exhaust housing) obviously can't make it to production for financial reasons. The other point is that this is not a car that is being marketed to enthusiasts. The people buying this thing are granny's and people who want a utility car. Now Subaru is in a weird position in that their most expensive sports car is also based on the same model as their entry level utility car. It's like if Chevy had to base the Camaro on the Aveo. So because it's an entry level car, it's gotta look like crap? Cadillac bases their high performance model on their grandma-mobile and did a good job of making both look good. Gire
Looks as exciting as a Corolla. A mini Legacy with Scion headlights. Yay... Again, Subaru upping the bland factor to sell more units. I'll go on record today: It will be the most successful Impreza style ever.
TrueWhiteBoy
Yeah, shame they figured out how the value of marketing now instead of back in 05, else we might have a 300 HP Legacy STI To be honest, I really don't think the standard 05-09 Legacy looks like anything special either though. Gire
The 2005 LGT wagon was something special though... it was more striking than the sedan which I agree was plain. They got the rump of the 05 LGT wagon perfect, not to be duplicated again.

Suddenly they start advertising well and they're amazed that they're able to sell more cars. I often wonder if the LGT wagon might still be around if they actually advertised the Legacy line back in 2005. Hell, I didn't even think about a Legacy until my friend kept pointing it out, and even then the older Legacies kept popping into my mind. I kept bitching that I couldn't find an automatic WRX
Buzzman
I agree with Gire, it'll probably be the most sucessful model thus far. Generic seems to sell really well these days.
rao
Forget about the looks - it is going to be slow. Subaru has pretty much abandoned the performance market, which is not surprising since it is so small.
