dark_thorns
I'm having a hard time installing the pistons, I can't get the rod to line up with the piston so I can put the wristpin in through the service hole. Anyone have any suggestions?
Osei
If the piston is inserted in the proper orientation, you should be only a fraction of an inch off. I used a 3/4" wood dowel to align and also to set the pins. O.
dark_thorns
I've got the piston wristpin hole lined up and the rod is in the piston, but it just sinks down to the bottom and i can't figure out a way to reach it and pull it up to align it and then keep it aligned to put the wristpin in. Osei
Use a dowel or similar inserted from the back side access plate to hold in place while inserting pin. Leave all four access plates off until done. Or you can flip engine over, so rods will fall into and not out of position, turning the crank a bit if necessary. Or you can remove oil pan and baffle and have complete access to the rods for holding. O.
Baddog
This has always been kind of a pain for me. I just lean the engine until the rod stays lined up. heh
jamal
I wonder if there's some way to reach the rod by hand to move it into the right position. perhaps through the bottom of the case...
