riceprotein
There is no tension on my interior hood release cable. Does anyone have any clue how to manually open the hood? I searched online but each car's hood release is different. I can get a screwdriver up into the general area of what looks like the release mechanism, but I'm lost on what I need to pull or press. Any insight would be appreciated.
FLlegacy
Try going to the hood and giving it a quick but firm strike withe bottom of your closed hand like you would hit a table while sitting at it. Sometimes the latch sticks and doesn't release the hood. If that is the case get some penetrating oil to lube it.
riceprotein
Yea, I tried that, no luck. The cable is still attacked to the interior release lever and I tried using a pair of pliers to pull on the cable, but it wouldn't budge.
08SpecB_DE
The cable wouldn't budge or the hood wouldn't pop open when you pulled on the cable? It sounds like you already pulled the lever but the hood will not open. A little elbow grease and you should be able to get it to lift.
FLlegacy
If you get your arm behind the bumper through the opening in the front find where the cable connects on the latch and pull it to the driver side. You will have to do it by feel unfortunately.
dgoodhue
You might want to find another 5th Legacy in the area to look at the hood assembly with the hood open.
A_Tang
Yea, I tried that, no luck. The cable is still attacked to the interior release lever and I tried using a pair of pliers to pull on the cable, but it wouldn't budge. Did you ever figure this problem out? Went to check on the status of my power steering (which has been going in and out intermittently) and the hood won't unlatch. Seems the cable is still connected on the release level end under the dash.
