Why are Bilsteins for LGT so expensive?

I had a set of Bilstein sports and H&R springs on a Jetta VR6, only paid $575 total (brand new). I installed the rears by myself in less than an hour in my driveway and paid $80 to get the fronts installed. (Handling was awesome, by the way...)

Now "Spec B" Bilsteins for the LGT are something like $1800... what's the deal?

why is bilstein not making similarly priced aftermarket replacements?

not really related, but does anybody have H&R springs on their LGT? Good springs for a good price... about $200.
