The Great LegacyGT.com Fundraiser 06!!

Well folks... it's that time of year again!!! We had remarkable success last year and raised over $1400!!!

This year the site is bigger and we have many more members. Our goal this year is to hand over a check for $2000.00 to the American Red Cross!

LAST YEARS THREAD

THE AMERICAN RED CROSS

Total collected thus far: $3170.26

I would like to take a minute and tell you why we have decided to donate to the Red Cross.

-Each year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 70,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters.

On top of that, they serve a vital role in helping our soldiers overseas and here in the states.

While I served in the Marine Corps a fellow Marine in my Platoon lost his mother to a car accident while I based in Manama, Bahrain. The Red Cross not only relayed the message to this Marine, but also paid for his plane ticket home and helped with some of his other travel expenses.

While I worked as a Police Officer I saw the Red Cross put multiple families in Hotels at no cost to them while there homes were being rebuilt.

I know that in the past the Red Cross has been there for me and I hope and pray that they will be there in the future. Lets all reach down in our pockets and donate what we can to help this great organization!!

Who knows.... maybe one day it will be YOU who needs the aid of the RED CROSS.

We are accepting excepting any dollar amount donation.

Its great to see an organized effort to help a great cause. I know many of you can give up $20 for a special cause this holiday season. Heck I spent 3x that much at restaurants this weekend, while there are others out there looking for food. Even our small online community can make a difference.

yes, enter as often as you like. bolded and made red the comment 'minimum is $20' - per ticket.

last year, we had several awesome people who donated who didn't want to enter the raffle or want recognition....quite a bit of money actually! :) I'm collecting the funds, so please make it clear what your preference is and I promise to honor your anonymity should you request it.

P.S. In the interest of full disclosure, we are collecting via a Paypal link - I've got a vendor account, so there's no limit on the number of transactions (a problem last year) and I can accept MC/VISA, but the downside to that is they take 3% for the privilege. The net total of funds will be donated after the raffle is closed. None of us are happy about the 3% to Paypal, but that's the price of making this easy on everyone.

Thats a good point :(

Feel free to donate $20.60 to cover the charges

actually, it's $.88 in fees on a $20 donation if you belong to Paypal. If you just use the link, it's $1.08. :(

I'll try to round up and donate the difference that's lost to fees once this is all done. ;)
