Nex Type SS and D2 Coilovers?

Hey guys, I was trolling eBay and ran across these 2 coilovers. What do you guys think?

This kit will fit Subaru Legacy Sedan's from 2005+. You are looking at one of the finest made coilover kits available. The NEX Type SS kit has all the features of a racing coilover without the harsh ride and cost. The NEX Type SS is designed to allow the vehicle to be lowered without affecting shock stroke or spring preload. This is done by separating the spring preload adjustment from the ride height adjustment. As a result of this unique design, the ride quality is not affected by ride height! This is only found on a few kits! Adjustment range is for the front is 1.5"-2.5" and the rear is a 1.0-2.5" lowering. Please note that wheel offset is critical and a spacer may be needed when standard wheel / tire combination is used.

Q: How low can you adjust the D2 coilovers?

A: Most applications can be adjusted up to 120mm

Q: I heard Coilovers make a knocking noise?

A: Improper installation is usually the cause. Tightening the collar usualy eliminates this problem. Lastly if the shock seems to be defective please contact us.

Q: Are D2 Coilovers certified or tested?

A: Yes by the TUV/ ISO 9001:2000, TUV osterrich, FIA for some parts as well as testing reports from WORLD "ARTC" (Automotive Research Testing Center).

 

Q: Can I get custom spring rates?

D2 looks like the Ksports, right down to the brake brackets u have to mount yourself. it has been said (at least in sentra forums) that the ksports/d2 are both built in the same factory but of course d2 and ksport denies it.

If you're getting coilovers for performance, I would probably look elsewhere. imo, it's almost impossible for a company to design a good performance coilover when their products are not used in any form of organized professional motorsport. The brands that people have positive experiences with time and time again are the ones you see on real race cars.

 

If you want to slam your car, cheap coilovers will get the job done. If you want it to truly perform, then it is probably worth it to spend the extra cash. Keep in mind that it is common practice to reduce cost by designing one coilover and simply welding on different mounting brackets for fitment on a variety of cars. The problem with this is that so many cars are so different in their handling and weight distribution to begin with, so you don't get an ideal solution.

i had D2 coilovers on my Altezza, horrible, seals burst after a month they were repaired under warranty, seals burst again after 2 months, demanded a refund. Anyone i know that has had them in the past cant say a good word about them.K-sport is the sister company of D2. both made in the same factory. a guy i used to know on the Oz/NZ lexus club worked beside the factory, he said they would have more broken coilovers coming back, than going out of the factory :lol:

 

Tein, HKS, Buddyclub is what i would go for

Oh Man D2. aren't they made in Korea. They try and work up brand popularity by making there logo look like the D2 sponsor from the Benz DTM cars of the late 90's. D2 vodafone is what your saw on the silver benz's,not D2 suspension products. Save up for a legit set ie. Buddy Club Cusco, Ohilns ,Tein etc.
