teamafx
I have been having a cylinder 2, and 4 misfire. Idle is ROCK solid with it plugged in and with it unplugged. The misfire only happens under a load. With MAF disconnected I can run and drive at any throttle without misfire. Any ideas?
Berzerklo
Any mods? Specifically any aftermarket intake? Stock tune?
apexi
Bad driver side oil control valve would be my guess with those 2 cylinders both misfiring.
teamafx
Oil control valve wouldnt dissapear with maf disconnected.

apexi
I think it was a coincidence that the misfire disappeared with the maf disconnected, I still think OCV.
teamafx
Its not a coincidence. It happens that way every time. Ocv works off of oil pressure and would cause a misfire regardless of if the maf is disconnected and would not have a solid idle with no misfire present
apexi
Are there any other codes present other than the misfires? My only other thought is a vacuum leak somewhere, hopefully others will chime in with their thoughts.
teamafx
No other codes.....changing out maf and af sensor tomorrow

mwiener2
How did you check for air leaks? My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
teamafx
I have a smoke machine, no air leaks at all in system, rock solid. The smoke machine also can feed air in which I did, again rock solid. Im about to just sell it for parts.....I am at a loss. With maf connected barely moves out of its own way. With it disconnected I can drive and have slight hesitation but it is infinetely better. Replaced MAF, nothing, replaced a/f sensor nothing.
mwiener2
Having a smoke machine is one thing, using it is another.  How are you checking it for air leaks? My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
teamafx
I used the smoke machine..... Remove the air filter and it runs and drives. Wondering if this is a misrouted vac line
mwiener2
One more try... How did you check for leaks? How did you use the smoke machine?  So now if you take your air filter off, it runs fine with the MAF connected? And you have a turbo model? teamafx
I know how to use a smoke machine......been doing it for 20 years. Entire vac system was checked. Smoke did not leak, maintained pressure and machine indicated no leak. Â I got this car used and have been trying to find the route of all its issues. I never anticipated misrouted lines

mwiener2
You have a leak at the inlet tube of the turbo. I also suspect you have a restrictive air filter. Probably dirty. teamafx
Inlet tube shows no leak. Also air filter is brand new oem
JmP6889928
How are the brakes? Perhaps booster vacuum leak?
teamafx
Booster is good, brakes are great. Checked inlet to turbo, no leak. Only thing i can think of is that the lines off of intake tube are misrouted. Anyone give me a breakdown starting at the air filter forward where the ports go specifically.
