50\50 AWD on 99 Legacy?

Is there a way to make the 99 legacys an even 50\50 split. I heard that a couple of Subarus could have a fuse or something pulled to turn off the AWD and make it 50\50 4WD.

IIRC correctly the MT should already be 50:50 AWD at least in the GT spec not sure about the 2.2L MT variants.

The other part of the question...... I think you're confused with the FWD fuse in the automatics for towing situations(so you don't have to flatbed the car).

Why would you want to lock the wheels into 4WD???

OK, I just wrote a long drawn out reason why i asked this question.

The internet connection failed, and I lost the entire message.

SO, short and sweet.

I want the car to drive like my XT6, since I can't find one of those to buy!

The front wheels spin, first, and I want them to stop!

I want the car to oversteer!

OK guys, help me out!

Thinking about a Phantom Grip, in the rear, to assist in that area.

the front wheels shouldnt spin first. at all.

my only guess is that the FWD fuse is still in place.

it has to be removed to engage the AWD.

fuse is located at the left hand side below the windshield, above the firewall.

good luck!

My car is a 5MT, not an auto. I don't think the FWD fuse applies.

What I was told about was something else, but maybe I got bad info.

And, my car only spins the front wheels for about a second or 2 before the rear wheels catch up. However, I've never owned a Subaru that did that, They always spun all the front & rear tires at the same time with no delay.

Maybe teh center diff is worn.

Does it use the same fluid as the tranny?

Maybe the fluid used was wrong? It is the only fluid I didn't change; b\c it was clean.

Any thoughts?
