KC05Leg Posted February 20, 2008 Share Posted February 20, 2008 So, when I bought my LGT, it has some scratches and marks on the center console around the shifter. I couldnt get them to come off, so I decided to go to a fabric store, and found some vinyl that matched the dash. After taking the two side pieces off, and removing the center piece and ashtray, I just used some spray adhesive, and worked the fabric onto the pieces. It takes a bit of time, but once you start, you will get the hang of it, and it will go much quicker. Makes a pretty descent look IMHO. The vinyl makes it a pretty tight fit, so in order for it to still open and close, I couldnt wrap it. I dont smoke, but I wanted to be able to use the power outlet. I am sure you could paint it, or sand down the area around it to make it work. I think I payed like 10 bucks for the vinyl, and only a few bucks for the glue. I got WAY more fabric than I needed, and I think I got a 3-4 foot square. It took me about 30 minutes - 1 hour to finish, but like I said, I took my time to make it look right. Yeah, you probably could, I just didnt get that in depth. You could also pull it off and just paint the face of it also, but I dont know how good that would look over time. It would probably be easier to sand down the edges of the center trim around the ash tray though, since there is less plastic material on that side than there is on the sides of the ash tray door. It would be really nice if you could incorporate the silver trim piece on the ash tray door to the outside of the vinyl. That would just look sharp.
