Introducing JohnnyWas & The Turbo Hearse

Recommended Posts

Been several years since I owned a Subaru (formerly had a bugeye WRX for 7+ yrs), but I finally got bit by the flat-4 bug again. Entering my 30's with several other projects on the bench, I couldn't be happier to be dailying this beautiful Legacy GT wagon!

Purchased bone-stock with just 70k miles, I couldn't leave well enough alone, and this is how it sits in just a few short months of ownership. Long-term goals are to regain the former glories of my WRX - should be fun!

Loving the rims. Wanted the concave of the 9.5's on mine but couldn't be arsed with the rolling, pulling and cambering to get them fitting

Recently built (and sold) a ridiculous / static VIP UCF21, so compared to that, this is super modest. Don't miss the stress involved in driving that thing in NYC either!

What CBE is that? 3" all the way back, or does it taper down to 2.5" at the Y ?

Those grapefruit shooters have to be 5"...right? Wagon looks sick man!!!

OBX Wagon exhaust. True 3" all the way with 4.5" tips. Fitment is decent; gonna tuck it up about a 0.5" this weekend tho with shorter hangers all around.

Ever the nonconformist

Looking forward to your progress, man. You ought to post up a pic or two of your bugeye so these LGT'ers know what to expect!

Good point, Ed! haha

This was my Bugeye of yesteryear:

  • 4 weeks later...

Was unseasonably warm today in Brooklyn, so I decided to snap some pics:

Installed JDM HID Projectors about a week ago and couldn't be more pleased with the light output. They seem to wash out my fogs now, though, so maybe I'll do some sort of LED upgrade with them at some point...

Your taste in cars is impeccable. That Z is the sort of thing wet dreams are made of.

Did you have air suspension on your Lexus?

Thanks a lot!

No the Lexus was static on BC Coilovers with upgraded Swift Springs and helpers. Rode great, just not meant for dailying the streets of NYC. Maybe do another VIP build one day, but too many projects and not enough budget rn

The Z and LGT is a solid combo, don't need much else but a parts truck or beater.

I'm fairly content with my LGT and SC300. for now. I think...
