Grampawagon
hey guys im new to this forum but already love it ive done a little research and found you can swap the stock head unit from the new model year legacy and outbacks with the one i have in my car. the reason i want to do this is so i can use an auxilary port to play my music from my phone. i was wondering where i could find a head unit with a aux port. ive tried looking at scrap yards in my area but cant seem to find any. Berzerklo
You don't necessarily have to swap whole head units: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/plug-n-play-aux-mod-2005-6cd-radios-18504.html
clout
eBay! I'm considering doing the same thing and might swap climate control systems as well. Radio only, set up for manual climate system. I've seen one other thread related to swapping climate systems but it didn't have much info. Does anyone know if there would be a conflict if doing so? Grampawagon
The only problem I didn't mention is I have auto cilantro control so it is connected to the radio so I should have to do the full head unit swap but thanks for the suggestion if the ghost cd I also thought about that as well
mikeyvt
I have a 08 radio in my 05 and its nice. Now I didn't swap for the aux function I swapped it for the SAT function. I picked up a isimple and added a bluetooth and iphone/ipod module. I can stream music through bluetooth otherwise if I connect it through the wire for the iPod module and it'll charge and stream. The isimple is a plug and play system for the 08-09 radios.
