Angel Eye / Demon Eye Switchable Combo

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow LGT DIY fans!

I am new to the forum but have done countless DIY projects on my previous cars (nissan, audi, bmw, honda, etc).

Now I am a proud owner of LGT-B #307!

So let the chopping and screwing begin...haha

This time I am looking to do a Demon Eye and Angel Eye switchable combo.

Parts have been ordered last night and it should arrive 1st or 2nd week of January.

All parts were less than $100, not bad right?

Parts ordered

- Pair of 100mm white LED halo rings

- Pair of halo ring cover

- Pair of Red LED module

- Switchback LED turn signal bulb

- Pair of Bumper LED lights

Part still need

- Nice looking switch that can be controlled in cockpit

HOPEFUL result

- Normal white front lighting

- Normal+angel eyes

- Normal+angel eyes+red LED "demoneyes"

- Bumper LED working independently

I will post updates as they roll in, but if you have any recommendation on NICE ILLUMINATED MULTI-SWITCH, let me know!!!

How is the radar detector mounted?

Detector was a bit pain to mount...

I had to take the unit apart and drill some holes in the lower casing.

Then made a metal clips which would be holding onto light fixture and under the overhead panel.

Picture shows the front side mounting, its the same for the back.

I wanted to make it "clip" type just in case i need to remove it for "law" purposes or if I want to get a different detector which would be different size, not wanting random holes in my car. ha ha

It sure is a great place for these things!

Why do you attempt to hide the radar detector?

How does the boost gauge work at altitude?

In some states, having a radar/laser detector is illegal.

Even if law allows you to have one, if officer sees it, your chance of being ticketed is much greater.

Having a detector in the car screams "I like to break street laws and need to know where cops are". LoL

Boost gauge seems to be working great!

I'm still on stock tune (hopefully only for one more month!) hitting around 12.5 PSI, which I believe is max stock.

It certainly looks great matching the other panels, I have a link below, check it out!

Here's a small update on my car.

Mesh has been installed on the DIY grill, my L7 emblem is on its way from Japan :)

Let me know how that GFB Response treats your I want one for my 09 LGT but need more real life feedback. I want to set mine at 10% VTA 90 recirc

It works great!

I like the fact that you can just hand turn for setting changes.

It sits flushed and hides well under the engine cover.

I have mine set at 60% recirculating, I do like the "PsssShhhH"...LoL

I'd recommend it, my friends have other brands and its either leaking or sound like bird chirping very loudly (ricey).

Looks good!

But....I don't think your grill is mounted correctly. You shouldn't have that gap between the grill and the bumper. I just had my grill off for de-chroming and plastic dipping, and I found that lower lip on the grill should be hooked to the lip on the bumper, which pulls it in tight.

I keep hearing the same thing, I will definitely try that out tomorrow :)

You are from colorado as well! nice.

Perhaps a colorago LGT meet? lol

I want to have some more stuff done before the meet tho...haha

When you do the Demon eye mod pls provide instructions as this sounds like a good cheap mod. Also, are you using the GFB Response (which one?) bov with a stock setup? What % will you be using? How does this effect the running of the engine/turbo?

I will be installing them in few weeks, I'll definitely get the pix during install.

I am using GFB Respons T9001.

Setting is at 60% recirc and 40% atmos, current car setup is K&N typhoon intake and Borla CBE, stock tune.

Catless uppipe and downpipes are on their way, car will be tuned stage 2 once installed.

I see fast drop in boost and did notice "very slight" better hold in upper pressure (not as leaky).

Is that radar unit hard wired in rather than powered by a cig lighter??

LoL...

Yes, I have a switchable (on/off) 6 port 12v DC in my compartment.

I don't like the idea of having many "lighter plugs"...

If you open my arm rest compartment, there are many many things...

4 USB ports, 6 12v DC outputs, 3 "lighter plug" outputs :D

Pictures or it didn't happen...:lol::lol:

Also.. talking to a stereo shop today (Custom Sounds, San Antonio TX) they told me Kenwood and Pioneer USED to have OBD2 linked NAVI units.. but they don't anymore because people said the OBD2 software wasn't working with the Subarus. Where are you getting your unit and have you checked compatability?

So..in a turn of events today..BOTH best buy and Custom Sounds told me today they cannot install any after market radio into my car. Period. Apparently there's no harness or install kit. Custom sounds even took apart my entire dash ..took the Nav and radio out to look and said there's just no way because they would have to rewire to the stock amp and blah blah blah...lame. Snookie I have a car that has a crapy out of date Nav system and no option to replace.

2008 LGT...I have pics I can post of the dash....pretty pissed too..after asking for an obd2 Nav unit they said "Subaru can't do tot anymore" and asking about a radio I'm general they said "if this tech says he can't then it probably can't be done"

I'm not sure what your goal is here. It seems you want the nav gone as well?

I had a friends LGT get a stereo replacement at best buy. The radio can for sure be swapped with the rrev stereo kit.

Hmm...maybe I have not clarified enough...sorry ^^;

I plan to keep my stock nav screen.

However I will be ordering JDM double din kit and building a car PC.

Which ultimately then be media player + open source logging/tuning via OBDII (tactrix).

Also this way I can tether my LTE for downloading and streaming, syncing through my home network once I'm parked in garage :)

That's my plan as of now. With custom built car (micro) pc, anything is possible!!

Maybe I rambled a bit much. My end goal is to get a new in dash Nav/DVD/CD player that is capable of obd 2. Closest I can get is a system with mirror link with my phone. The stock Nav is out of date and near useless. I have a stock 6disc cd changer built into the console also. I wanted to keep the 6 disc functional with a new radio Nav system. The places I brought it to looked at both options ( out the new radio where the Nav is or where the radio is) and said I go either way. What year is your friends car?

As for you...for the most bang for your buck I'd recommend a Mac mini. The size and power is perfect for a car computer. Upgrading is cheaper and easy to do on your own. I can provide info if needed.
