TheMonaLisa
Well took my last banjo screen out today. It sucked a lot. After grinding the nipple off the bolt head I still did not have enough room to squeeze it out. So broke out the handy sawzall and cut the tip in the block off. If you saw my post about my up pipe install you know my backup plan is to cut stuff up. Cranked the engine a few short times with everything disconnected so the oil would flush out the metal shavings into a rag. Reused to shortened bolt (6/8 threads remaining) and put everything back together with new washers. There you go... a whole Sunday gone http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/dujuzuze.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/busa7ase.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/jusy5asa.jpg Used the left most bit. Dulles 3 of them before I finished. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/ynu7eza3.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/u5y7e7uj.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/2a5eqe9u.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/mynu6u4a.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/mu9e4ave.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/yzamubez.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/my2a8u2e.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/y8ejeha9.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/21/ehamujy7.jpg Honestly if I knew how difficult this was I would have left it in. It's really not worth it. Grinding down wrenches and crap. The turbo banjo is of much greater concern that this one. I do not recommend trying this. bigBADbenny
Iirc the bolt can be removed w/o cutting if the cam belt cover is wedged aside with a pry bar, not that ahhh I've tried it myself
FknBoss
Lol do you have enough threads to tighten properly?
12sechatch
Now do the one that actually matters, by the turbo.
jp233
That drivers side AVCS bolt is a PITA. I thought you could grind into the plastic cover though a bit, and grind the little nub off the bolt head, and get it out that way? and holy crap, I'd have probably pulled the dipstick tube out. Just a few o-rings and some goop to put it back in. Maybe un-bolted the AC compressor and just laid it out of the way, can make a lot of extra room in that area. FknBoss
While my engine is out I switched the bolts because 2 have flat sides 2 have nipple on them.
TheMonaLisa
The screen got chopped in half durring the cutting so hard to say but less than 50% clogged. I had 6 put of 8.5 threads left so in my opinion yes. Drove fifty miles today and everything is all good. I did remove my turbo screen already, back at Christmas when I did my up pipe and down pipe. I know some people are able to get them out in one piece but mine was absolutely not coming out. Started cracking my timing belt cover as it was and the stress on my cam pulley was un settling to me. Little chop and a couple engine start bumps to flush out the metal shavings and it's all good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
