rao741
I have call multiple places including Subaru and they are telling me the only replacement for my rear struts are a KYB model. Can any one provide insight? I am looking to change these out with something similar to the Bilstein HD B6 that is currently installed. I search the Bilstein website and no part numbers come up, if I search Spec B model I get a rear stut, are these the same? Just looking for direction and do not want to go to coilcovers, just a simple replacement without making the ride super mushy and to keep stock springs. I have about 120K on the OEM.:spin: I appreciate the help and direction. Rao741
idiot4hire
They are the same through our the 05-09 range I just put HD's on mine no problem other then a frozen bolt on the strut top. Call one of the following places they are the two big ones and can hook you up with what ever need. Azp installs Infamous performance
rao741
That was my thought but wanted to confirm before ordering, I appreciate the help.
AZP Installs
Actually, the 3.0R uses the SpecB front strut tops so if you have the Bilsteins, I'm pretty sure the 3.0R Limiteds all had those struts. If you wanted to re-use your strut tops in the front you would need Bilstein style struts. If you want to switch to the KYB style you would need front strut tops from the regular LGT model. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. rao741
Appreciate the help, replaced rears today with Bilstein HD's, funny part if rear struts came with Subaru strut, not Bilstein, so apparently the front is only Bilstein from the factory in the 08'. In and out in about 2 hrs, first time making the swap, not so bad and very easy. On another not a notice that on my front top hat mount, one of the three bolts has sheared off, I have never touch them, was changing the air filter, should I have any cocnerns with daily driving for a bit then replacing? I plan on replacing front Bilsteins within the next month or 2. I know I can knock the bolt out and replace but not enough time to get to it today. AZP Installs
The rears will be the same, only the fronts are different. No worries driving it on the street, those 3 bolts really hold the suspension in place when you are fully unloaded. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. CapnJack
The rears on my 08 3.0R are Bilsteins from the factory. All four shocks should be yellow and of Bilstein descent.

Some 3.0R cars got Bilsteins and some did not, depending on which options you got I believe. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. rao741
I will post a pic later of the oem's that came off the rears, yellow in color but clearly marked Subaru. I have 3.0r Limited with all the bells and whistle, I was surprised to see they were not Bilstein.
